Funding
Depending on the individual's needs and circumstances support can be funded through the social care budget from the local authority or individuals can self-fund if they have the means.
A personal budget is the money allocated to an individual by their local authority (Council) and is based on the outcome of an assessment carried out by social services.
It can be issued as a direct payment, which means that the money is paid directly to the individual, or a person acting on their behalf, or, it can be a council-maanged budget whereby the local council pay us directly. The individual can buy the services of their choosing, which will help them to achieve their goals. This is known as self-directed support and is government policy.
